Set in 1983 Albania during communist rule, the Kulla family struggle as they are forced by government agents into internment. For Artur, the family's son, things get more complicated as the family's new makeshift living quarters is near in vicinity of his love, Frida, who is forced into an engagement with a high ranking operative. The family continues to be further subjected into cruel, inexplicable circumstances as it is later discovered newly repatriated friend, in an effort to help the family, only complicates matters further.

Director's Statement

Growing up in communist Albania, I was completely unaware of the fear and oppression the government was inflicting in the lives of its people, not only because of the communist propaganda, but mainly because my parents never talked about it, fearing I would get the word out. Only 10 kilometers from my town there were these villages, whose people the government had forced into internment just because of something they had said. Internment is an effort to shed some light into the cruelties and absurdities of this particular time.
